I don't read very often, but I get roped into it when I start. I just finished the book "Lone Survivor". Very good book if you are into warfare...

i loved the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, specially The Vampire Lestaht. Haven't done much reading lately though. Who's the author of Lone Survivor?

depends on what you like. I would say any various pick up book has been the best read for me.
Interview with a vampire was good. I tried to read another anne rice book and it was too boring.. Apparently she is writing books about god now?

Best book ever? That's a tough one. The closest I could come to choosing would either by Thus Spoke Zarathustra or Human, All Too Human from Nietzsche. But there are so many others it's not even funny.

They're both very different books, each great in completely different ways. Each of Nietzsche's books builds on the last, and gives a true progression of philological and psychological though, so it's really better to read them in order. Human, All Too Human was written before and is easier to read than Thus Spoke Zarathustra. It would really be better to read On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense before Human, All Too Human, but it isn't as easy to get. If you live in an area with a decent library, or can find PDFs online, I'd recommend reading in this order:
On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense Human, All Too Human The Dawn The Gay Science (you could skip this one, but probably shouldn't) Thus Spoke Zarathustra I omitted a few of his early works, which are pretty much impossible to follow if you don't already have strong knowledge on 19th century European psychology and a very strong grasp on Greek drama. Then you can get into his more famous books like Beyond Good and Evil and know what the hell he's talking about. I started with Beyond Good and Evil and it was a mistake. I misunderstood some and completely missed much of what he talked about. Most of his books are written with short aphorisms of a page or less, making it very easy to read during some downtime at work. That's where I read all of his books. If you're only willing to read one, start with Human, All Too Human. You'll end up reading the rest anyway. |

I don't read often, and just about the only author I can really get into is Chuck Palahniuk (author of "Fight Club"). However, I do love just about all of his books. My favorites being "Rant" and "Choke."

Atlas Shrugged.
Anything by Michael Chrichton for fiction that is close to being 'real'. The Gunslinger series by Stephen King. |
